Put down the phone and have a another drink!!

This falls under “Are you kidding Me”. This weekend during a LPGA event pro golfer, Juli Inkster, Hall of Famer no doubt. While in the middle of a 30 some odd minute break, wanted to keep loose. She simply picked up a club slid the swing weight on and began just practice swinging her club. No one there thought twice about it and the game went on. Now here is where is turns sorely sour for her. Here was some jackass sitting at home on a Saturday afternoon watching women’s golf. Okay yes it is a sport but come on, not even the men’s tour can be handled most of the time by any one but avid golfers. Well they see what she did, apparently freaked out, birthed a cow, and after climbing back down from the wall, picked up the phone and call the LPGA’s office to inform them of this. They looked into it and yes she committed an infraction and disqualified her. Only being three strokes behind the leader at that.
Seriously who in their right mind would do this? Better yet who just has the LPGA’s number lying around? Exactly how much alcohol must one consume to care enough to call in the first place? From what I have been told, this wouldn’t be the first time this has happened, in golf that is. With the ruling and sub sequential disqualification of the golfer. I think a heavy precedence could have been made.
Now think about how long a Basketball game could take if every non-called, walking, palming etc was called in by viewers. Hell they may still be playing the first game of last year.
Football now has a system, flawed as it may be, in place with instant replay. With limits on use and by who can call for the system to be activated. But once a decision has been made, you are stuck with it. No late night checking of the tapes, taken away of points or victories. Couldn’t even begin to think of how many times a holding penalty in the course of a game happens. Now think if someone were to call the Commissioners office and report them each one of them , how long a game would take. Well hell lets be honest, no one would answer the phone and if by chance they did, they surely wouldn’t go back review it and change the out come of a game because of it.
So just watch your damn sports what ever they may be, yell scream and make excuses for the loss amongst yourselves and put the damn phones down!!!

  1. Yep, in sports you have to deal with referee error (or crookedness). But keep in mind, golf isn't a sport, it's a game.
